I'm sure everyone in the World has done a charity event before. For those who haven't its probably more of a personal pride achievement you get out of it, to know that you have made a difference to someone, somewhere.
If you aren't the one doing the event or whatever, remember it's the 'giving' part that makes a difference. My Sister is doing a running event for Cancer Research, more than a worthy cause, especially as I know everyone on this planet knows someone who has suffered/died/lived through cancer.
